In
1973 Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe
worked on their last collaboration. This was for a
film of St. Exupery's The Little Prince. During
the winter of 1973, Mr. Lerner came out to Mr. Loewe's
house in Palm Springs, CA. to finish the score.
When it was finished, they were persuaded by
close friends to record it.
This extremely
rare recording was made at the Palm
Springs Desert Museum in 1973. Alan Lerner is singing
the songs and parts of the individual characters in the
story and Fritz Loewe is playing the music on the piano.
It is one of only a few existing recordings of Lerner and
Loewe performing together. It was not professionally
recorded, but it has been painstakingly remastered to
bring out the best possible sound.
